They are called "rank". They increase or decrease according to the Dorm you join (which is your rank as well).

For example, all teachers, chancellors, administrators etc have 5, members of the ra dorm have 3 (as you do), guests have none, kuribohs have none (wait, that's weird :S) and Blue-eyes have 2!

I, as a GFX designer don't even have the image.
